Winners Announced for National Songwriting Competition
Grand Prize Winner To Be Announced March
1 At The Rivoli
Toronto, Ontario (February 25, 2003) –
Regional winners in the National Songwriting Competition
were announced today by Canadian Music Week and the Songwriters
Association of Canada. The grand prize winner, who will
be chosen by a panel of industry experts, will be announced
at an intimate concert at The Rivoli on Saturday, March
1 at 9 p.m., part of Canadian Music Week Festival activities.
This year’s competition is sponsored by Standard Radio
in association with the Songwriters Association of Canada
(SAC). (See below for a complete list of winners).
The grand prize includes $10,000 in cash; 30 hours of mixing
and mastering time from METALWORKS, one of Canada’s
top recording studios; production time from Justin Gray
(Snow, Jack Soul); a Web site; and a promotional release
of the winning song by EMI Music Canada.
"The exposure and support awarded to winners and finalists
of the National Songwriting Competition is and always has
been first rate," says Sean Mulligan, Executive Director
of the Songwriters Association of Canada. “It is an
excellent opportunity for developing writers with strong
songwriting skills to further their career goals.”
