TORONTO,
December 11 - Canadian Music Week - the
country's largest annual music industry
event - is inviting members of more than
25 music industry associations to participate
in the voting for the Canadian Music Industry
Awards.
As a result of a comprehensive study on
the way the Awards have been structured,
Canadian Music Week is building a solid
music community list of voters. Members
of a variety of music industry organizations
are invited to participate, but to ensure
that the widest range of industry people
are included, individuals are invited to
register with CMW by accessing the CMW website
(www.cmw.net).
"This is our effort to make sure the
voting is as inclusive as possible, and
that our voters are the ones in positions
to judge the contributions their peers have
made to our industry," said Neill Dixon,
president of Canadian Music Week.
The awards will be presented at a gala ceremony
set for February 28th at the Westin Harbour
Castle Hotel in Toronto; The Guess Who and
CHUM's Allan Waters will be inducted into
the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame
at the event, which will be hosted by television
personality Carla Collins.
The industry awards recognize outstanding
achievement in some 30 different categories,
and cover every aspect of the music and
broadcast industries.
