Another Great Event at Canadian Music Week Feb 27- March 3, 2002.

Canadian Music Week Xtreme Band Slam was created to recognize and celebrate the talents of unknown or emerging artists and bring their new music to the forefront of the music industry. The Xtreme Band Slam competition will provide the ultimate platform from which to catapult dynamic new talent from unknown to star. It's an incredible opportunity for deserving musicians nationwide.

For the last few months, local radio stations across the country have been hosting regional competitions to find the best band to represent their city at the National Level. These Regional competitions are the premier showcase of musical talent throughout Canada.

Each Regional winner automatically qualifies at the National level and will make the trek to Toronto to take part in the Xtreme Band Slam during Canadian Music Week. Regional finalists will have a maximum of 15 minutes to perform for a panel of judges and an enthusiastic crowd during the National competition. At least 2 original songs must be performed at the finals. National judging panels to be announced closer to the event date.

The National Playdown will be held at 8pm on Saturday March 2, 2002, at The Roundhouse, Steam Whistle Brewery, Toronto. Tickets to the general public are $10 however, CMW Delegate and wristband passes gain free entry.

The Xtreme Band Slam winners will reap over $50,000 in prizes:
