MUSIC SENSATIONS CYNDI LAUPER AND JOAN JETT ADDED TO LIST OF KEYNOTE SPEAKERS FOR CANADIAN MUSIC WEEK EXECUTIVE CONFERENCE

Toronto, Ontario (February 24, 2004)‚ International music icon, Cyndi Lauper will treat CMW delegates to a rare, intimate keynote interview as part of this year's Canadian Music Week Executive Conference. Lauper joins a long list of entertainment giants scheduled to speak, including rock legend, Joan Jett and producer/manager songwriter, Kenny Laguna.

Presented by the Songwriters Association of Canada, Cyndi Lauper will be interviewed by Canada AM anchor Seamus OíRegan on Saturday, March 6 at 5:30 p.m. Joan Jett and Kenny Lagunaís interview, to be conducted by host/producer of MuchMusic/MuchMoreMusic Bill Welychka,is scheduled for Friday, March 5 at 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 per event and can be purchased at Ticketmaster outlets or online at www.ticketmaster.ca. Admission is free for CMW delegates and Tune Up pass holders.

Lauper will join Canadian Music Week following the release of her latest album ëAT LASTí in November 2003 performing classic songs such as the Righteous Brothersí ëUnchained Melodyí and ëYou Really Got A Hold On Meí by Smokey Robinson. Involved in the music business for over 26 years and made famous by her hit song ëGirls Just Want To Have Funí, Cyndi Lauper is a Grammy Award winner and Emmy Award recipient for her guest appearances on ëMad About Youí in the early í90s. Her first solo album in 1983, Sheís So Unusual, sold more than 4.5 million copies in the United States and she was the first female artist to have four Top Five singles from a debut album.

Making music for over two decades, Joan Jett has been a figurehead for several generations of female rockers. Upon teaming up with producer/manager songwriter Kenny Laguna, her independently released self-titled debut album in 1980 was the most successful independent rock record of all time. Laguna assisted Jett in forming The Blackhearts, whose first album reached the Top Five with the single 'I Love Rock'n'Roll' hitting the top of the Billboard Charts for seven weeks. Over the course of her extensive career, Jett has worked with the Beach Boys, the Sex Pistols and Paul Westerberg.

Other keynote speakers confirmed for the Canadian Music Week Executive Conference include: Paul Burger, President of Soho Artists, Michael Dreese, CEO of Newbury Comics, Larry Kenswil, President of Universal eLabs, Matt Ragas, best-selling author and cult branding expert and Tony Viner, President and CEO of Rogers Media.
