Moonraker Wins Canadian Music Week's Xtreme Band Slam

Toronto, Ontario (March 9, 2004) ‚ Canadian Music Week has announced that Moonraker, from Toronto, ON, will receive thousands of dollars in prizing as the grand prize winners of the Xtreme Band Slam competition. Regional winners competed in the Xtreme Band Slam National Playdown on Saturday, March 6, 2004 at Toronto's Funhaus.

The thirteen finalists performed two songs each for a panel of industry professionals. CBC's Galaxie Rising Stars Award, consisting of a cash prize of $2000, was also presented to Moonraker.

Presented by 102.1 The Edge and Chart Magazine, Moonraker walked away from this year's competition with the grand prize which includes 30 hours of recording, mixing and mastering time with producer/engineer Graham Brewer from METALWORKS, Canada's #1 recording studio; web site design and hosting worth $2500 from Simaltech.com; a D10SCE-Bk Acoustic Guitar and T24 Bass Guitar from Washburn; an AS50R Acoustic Amplifier from Marshall; a GL Dread Acoustic Guitar Case and GL Bass Hard Shell Bass Case from Gator; a Little Mark Bass Head and Traveller 102 Bass Combo from Mark Bass; a 5-piece EX825 Drum Kit with Sabian XS20 Cymbal Pack from Pearl; a DTR 1000 Digital Tuner from KORG; a VX400 Vocal Processor from Digitech; Emotion Series Microphones from AKG; A300 Mic Stands w/boom from Quik Lok; and a one-year complimentary subscription to Canadian Musician Magazine.
