Heather Ostertag
With 18 years at the helm of the Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent On Records, (FACTOR) and an additional 8 years experience in the Canadian music industry, Heather Ostertag has earned her respected Industry profile.
Ms. Ostertag began her career in Canadian music in 1977 as the Administration Manager at the Canadian Talent Library (CTL). When the CTL merged with FACTOR in 1986, she found her niche.
Immediately following the merger Ms. Ostertag was the Director
of Administration until 1988 when, she became Executive Director.
In 1999, she was named FACTOR's President ‚ the title she
still holds today.
As President, Ms. Ostertag is an active member in the Canadian music community, but her community involvement extends beyond her FACTOR role. She is the current chair of the Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA). And is a life-time director on the Board of Directors for the East Coast Music Awards.
Ms. Ostertag has been well recognized by the music industry.
She has been twice voted one of Canada's 30 Top Most Influential
Music Executives. The East Coast Music Association appointed
her an "Honorary Lifetime Director" in 1995, and
the Canadian Association of Broadcasters honoured her with
the Ruth Hancock "Friend of the Industry" award
in 1996. She has since been inducted into the Canadian Music
Industry Hall of Fame, awarded the Harris Alumni Award for
Excellence in Music Industry Education, and in February 2002,
FACTOR presented Ms. Ostertag with an award for Integrity.
