Jeff Burns
Jeff has the enviable reputation of having the best A&R track record of any Canadian music executive. In his 25 years in the industry, his artists have sold in excess of 30 million records.
During his 12-year tenure as Senior Vice President of A&R for CBS Records (now Sony Music), he signed, developed and recorded such artists as Loverboy, Gowan, Platinum Blonde, Dan Hill, Prism, Barney Bentall and Harlequin as well as overseeing the first English recordings of Celine Dion.
Today, Jeff is President of Sextant Records, an independent
label distributed nationally by EMI Music Canada. Since 2000,
Sextant has released artists such as Choclair, Sky, The Irish
Descendants, 3 Deep, Dawn Robinson, Robin Black and the Intergalactic
Rock Stars, The Northern Pikes and Nickelback's first album.
He is currently working towards developing strong independent
labels, adding an associated label partnership with labels
such as Bob Luhtala's S&K Music; which has already released
Mudmen's second album "Overrated" with Sextant Records. Other
labels include Def Beat Records with artists such as G-Stroke
(Hip Hop/Rap), Kamikazi (Pop/R'n'B), and GENTLEMEN X, a unique
five men R&B group, and SMG (Sticky Music Group) through which
Sextant Records First release will be the country artist Danni.
Her sound is a combo of Shania meets Shakira all wrapped up
in a sexy package.
