John Cassaday
John M. Cassaday is the President and Chief Executive Officer
of Corus Entertainment Inc., a position he has held since
its inception in September 1999. Corus is Canada's leader
in radio and specialty television. Corus also owns Nelvana,
one of the world's leading producers of animated programming
and related products.
Previously he was Executive Vice President of Shaw Communications,
President and Chief Executive Officer of Shaw Media and President
and CEO of Star Choice Communications. Immediately prior to
his involvement with Shaw, he was President and Chief Executive
Officer of CTV Television Network. Prior to CTV, John's career
spanned a number of leading packaged goods companies including
RJR Macdonald, General Foods and Campbell Soup where he served
as President in both Canada and the U.K.
John is on the Board of Directors of Manulife Financial, Masonite
International Corporation and Loblaw Companies Limited. He
is an advisor to Nestle Canada, is the in-coming Chair of
St. Michael's Hospital and is the Chair of the Rotman Business
School Advancement Board.
John has an M.B.A. from the Rotman School of Management at
the University of Toronto and was honoured in 1998 as their
most Distinguished Alumni. He was awarded the 1997 University
of Toronto Arbor Award and the 1995 Paul Mulvihill Heart Award.
Also in 1995, John Cassaday was Chair of the United Way campaign
for Metro Toronto and is also the recipient of the 1994 CEO
Award of Excellence in Public Relations presented by the Canadian
Public Relations Society.
