Larry Perkins
For more than twenty-four (24) years, Larry Perkins called
the Meadowlands Sports Complex in New Jersey home. Serving
as Vice President of Guest Services & Facility Operations
for Giants Stadium and Continental Airlines Arena. He was
responsible for diversified administrative activities including:
Customer and Employee Relations, Facility and crowd management,
crowd control research, analyzing markets, policy development
and implementation, budgeting, and was the corporate litigation's
representative. As of January 31, 2000, Larry now makes his
home in Raleigh, North Carolina at the RBC Center.
Prior to his appointment at the Meadowlands, Larry was a Private
Investigator and Regional Security Manager. He attended John
Jay College of Criminal Justice, New York and is a Certified
Protection Professional (CPP) and Crowd Management Professional.
As a Crowd Management Instructor and member of the Board of
Regents, Larry teaches Crowd Management and Planning Life
Safety at Oglebay; Public Assembly Facility Management School
and IAAM's Training Crowd Managers Instructors Course. He
was an adjunct professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice,
NY and taught at The New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletics
Association (NJSIAA). He serves as Chair of the International
Crowd Management Conference and committee, Vice Chair of The
International Safety and Security Task Force, with emphasis
on terrorism.
As the author of "Crowd Management; in the eye of the storm",
published 1997 by Workplace Violence Research Institute, Laguna
Beach, CA, and In his articles; The Basics of Crowd Management,
Defining the Roles of Crowd Managers, Don't Let it Happen;
Be prepared for Sudden Emergencies, and Day of Event Cancellation
Procedures, Larry addresses the real issues dealing with these
important topics from personal experience and study.
Selected by IAAM as one of twelve industry experts to help
develop a curriculum for crowd management professionals that
may provide the foundation for industry standards. Larry is
internationally known and frequently speaks abroad. Moreover,
he has written articles for the IAAM Facility Manager Magazine,
Stadia Magazine, Teen People Magazine and others. In addition,
he has hosted various industry related conferences and is
a Crowd Management, Event Planning consultant and expert witness.
Larry developed "Get Out Alive" Crowd Safety Tips for spectators
at public gatherings and other events, which was featured
on NBC Dateline's TV episode.
Larry was the founder and Chairman of the Northeastern Americans
with Disabilities Act Consortium (NAD?AC). And is the past
President of the International Customer Service Association
of the Heart of Carolina Chapter, He serves on the IAAM External
Affairs committee and Research Task Force and is Vice Chair
of the IAAM safety and Security Task Force on terrorism and
preparedness. He is also a Member of The International Narcotics
Law Enforcement Officers Assn., American Society of Industrial
Security and The International Who's Who of Professionals.
