Mackie Morris
Few if any communication consultants match Mackie Morris'
experience and accomplishments in guiding clients' successful
strategic planning while also leading their tactical application
of those strategies. Likewise, few if any media consultants
can match Mackie's 30-year record as a journalism and communications
seminar leader, teacher, coach, and practitioner.
In November 2001, Mackie founded Mackie Morris Communications™
as a way to respond to his growing clientele among Fortune
500 companies across the United States and to serve media
outlets throughout the world. In the former role, he works
with key executives to enhance their communication skills
and he assists client companies with all manner of presentations,
from shareholder and stock analysts meetings to management
retreats to divestiture presentations and sales meetings.
He also trains a wide array of non-media individuals, including
politicians, professional musicians, professional athletes,
and law enforcement officials.
For more than 15 years prior to starting his own company,
Mackie served Frank N. Magid Associates of Iowa as a Vice
President and lead consultant. He joined Magid in 1986 after
20 years of acclaimed work in newspapers, television, and
academia. Just prior to coming to Magid, he served as chairman
of the Broadcast News Department at the University of Missouri
School of Journalism, whose faculty he joined in 1975.
Immediately upon arriving at Magid, Mackie founded the unique
series of MAGID INSTITUTE™ instructional workshops. TMI was
the first such mid-career training opportunity for broadcast
professionals, and many of its graduates work at the forefront
of today's developments in TV and new media.
Over the years, Mackie has served as a full-time consultant
for television news clients in select markets, including New
York, San Francisco-Oakland, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Seattle,
Salt Lake City, Buffalo, and Austin, all of whom he helped
lead to winning ratings. His corporate media clients have
included ABC-Disney, NBC, Belo, Cox, LIN, and Bonneville.
A specialist in writing, storytelling, production, and performance,
Mackie has conducted on-site writing and storytelling seminars
for more than 150 TV stations in the U.S. and abroad. Overall,
Mackie has taught broadcast skills on five continents and
is a frequent speaker before such groups as the RTNDA, the
National Association of Black Journalists, the Society for
Professional Journalists, the Children's Miracle Network,
Investigative Reporters & Editors, and more than two dozen
state television and radio associations. It is safe to say
Mackie is the most sought-after broadcast writing seminarian
ever.
