Robert J. Ott
Robert Ott is the VP & General Manager of BMG Music Publishing
Canada (6yrs), President of the CMPA (5yrs), sits on the Board of Directors
of the Canadian Musical Reproduction Rights Agency (CMRRA) and formerly on
the board of Songwriters Hall Of Fame (CSHoF).
Since coming to BMG, Robert has notably signed: Love Inc.
currently enjoying their 2nd Top 10 hit in U.K., Platinum
album, ~4 million compiled singles, two Junos, Wave (Gold)
and has presided over unprecedented international success
of BMGMP Canada songwriters responsible for international
hits by NSYNC, Steps and Kenny Chesney, Atomic Kitten, Alex
Parks and J.C. Chasez among others.
Under his leadership BMG Music Publishing Canada has established a
string of media properties for BMG that are responsible for branding BMG
Music Publishing as #1 in the Sync market and have resulted in a 4yr, 400%
gain in film &TV revenues. The company has also delivered 6 consecutive
successful business plans and built domestic income to 20% of total revenue
vs. only 7% at the beginning of that period. 2003 results are +44.2%.
The BMG Music Publishing roster includes artists/songwriters Wave,
Ben Dunk, Tom Cochrane, Chris Sheppard (a/k/a Love Inc.), Justin Gray, Dean
McTaggart, Vince Degiorgio, Bryan Potvin and Bradley Daymond.
Robert came to BMG from a decade as owner of Lunar Music, a music
production and publishing company.
Through Lunar Music Robert was involved in the management of
songwriter/recording artists and served as a copyright consultant for
network programs at the CBC Business Affairs, where he handled copyright
clearances for Rita & Friends, all CBC Sports, Venture, Man Alive and
numerous network specials
