Although Imperial has been in the market only three years, it has been concentrating on main and indie rock including punk, as mentioned above.
Imperial Records is owned by JVC and has own distribution network nation wide.
We love to have new and established bands from Canada. As I found out, there are so many bands in Canada who have huge potential for our market. I was convinced of this when I attended the last CMW.
*Canadian acts on the label: The Weekend, Four Square
Imperial has picked up two artists from last CMW, The Weekend and Four Square.
The Weekend's album "Kiss, kiss" was released September, coinciding with their first showcase live in Tokyo, including Astro Hall and In The City, which attracted a predominantly Japanese audience, especially teens who love Andrea's energetic vocal and other members' performances. It is highly likely The Weekend will be invited back for 2004's Summer Festival.
Four Square is one of the honorable bands for Canada and Japan in 2004. 2004 marks the 75th Anniversary of Canada-Japan diplomatic relations, and numerous events commemorating this anniversary are expected to take in place in 2004. Among them, Four Square's new album "THREE CHORDS… ONE CAPO" which is due out in January, has been chosen as a special record to celebrate the anniversary.
*talk to me:
I will participate CMW in March and would like to see as many live performances as possible. Why don't you let me know your band's schedule at CMW? Also, please let me listen to your music on CD or even MP3 prior to CMW.
