When your phone sounds this good, it seems a shame to spoil the mood by answering it. With over $3 billion in worldwide sales, ringtones have already paid off bigtime for labels, publishers, ringtone providers, handset manufacturers and artists. But the consensus is, this is just scratching the surface. On the heels of Jay-Z's deal with Nokia to preload his Black Album, the technology is evolving toward polyphonic original sound recordings, ringback tones, interactive voice and music message services (IVR), song dedication and multimedia message service (MMS). So what's the bad news? Our panel has the lowdown, both good and bad.
