Jeff Burns
Jeff has the enviable reputation of having the best A&R track record of any Canadian music executive. In his 25 years in the industry, his artists have sold in excess of 30 million records.
During his 12-year tenure as Senior Vice President of A&R for CBS Records (now Sony Music), he signed, developed and recorded such artists as Loverboy, Gowan, Platinum Blonde, Dan Hill, Prism, Barney Bentall and Harlequin as well as overseeing the first English recordings of Celine Dion.
Today, Jeff is President of Sextant Records, an independent label
distributed nationally by Zing Distribution. Since 2004, Sextant has
released artists such as Choclair, Sky, The Irish Descendants, 3 Deep,
Dawn Robinson, Robin Black and the Intergalactic Rock Stars, The Northern
Pikes and Nickelback's first album. He is currently working towards
developing strong independent labels, Other labels include Def Beat
Records with artists such as G-Stroke (Hip Hop/Rap), Kamikazi (Pop/R'n'B),
and GENTLEMEN X, a unique five men R&B group, Most recently Sextant
has signed long term deals with Tal Bachman, Soul Decesion,and ex
Slik Toxic's front man Nick Walsh's new band Revolver, State of Shock,
and has currently been chosen to promote Cirque DU Soleil latest album
called Zumanity. Sextant is currently in a growth pattern with new
artists and employees
