Joe Wood
Joe Wood is a 51-year-old entrepreneur who made his lively hood in the music industry for over 25 years. He started out as a singer, songwriter, who had released over half a dozen recordings on his own independent label Rosedale Records. His songs were aired nationally on radio; some were even used on television shows and in a commercial or two. All this was going on while he played the bar, café and university circuit.
He has been a guest speaker/panelist at countless music conferences and festivals alike. Sharing his experiences and knowledge with those who were looking to get a start in this industry. His series of self help magazines "A Guide To Manufacturing and Promoting Your Own Product" (volumes ONE thru SIX), have been in great demand, with over 90,000 copies been released to date.
As a board of director with the Canadian Country Music Association, he chaired the Independent Label Committee. He was instrumental in forming the INDEPENDENT CITATION AWARDS. It was the first time a national music organization paid tribute to its grass roots members. Recently he was asked to help put together the criteria and regulations for the CANADIAN INDEPENDANT MUSIC AWARDS (THE INDIES). (A national awards program encompassing almost all genders of music).
In 1995 he started "JOE RADIO". A service created to get musicians product (CD's,"T" shirts, cassettes, ect.) directly into the public's hands. Since it's beginnings with one phone line and an 800 number, it has grown to be the financial lifeline of countless web sites across Canada. We now offer free e-commerce to any and all websites coast to coast.
His latest venture is a great addition to the RDR stable and brings the business full circle. Offering the "Song Upload Service" to his client's, means that he is now once again
delivering music to radio. (Instead of using a CD compilation to service radio, RDR is now dealing in DIGITAL WAVE FILES.)
"This new venture is great for both the independent artist, and the independent community. It will save the artist, money, and a lot of hassles and it will let him/her do what they should be doing … being an artist."
Day to day, Joe is busy working at his company RDR Music group. He has been operating this for over 15 years. Here he works with musicians looking to get started in the music industry, as well as those who have been around for as long as he has. It's not just about making compact disks … it's about helping careers.
