John C. Barker

John C. Barker is co-founder and President of Integrated Copyright Group, Inc. (ICG), an independent global intellectual rights management company based in Nashville, Tennessee. Now in its 15th year of operations, ICG has become a significant leader in serving the music publishing community with well-grounded expertise in copyright administration services, licensing, collections and audits. ICG represents over 500 publishing clients, including catalogs of Marty Robbins, Roy Orbison, Ray Stevens, Craig Wiseman, Mike Reid, Bill Monroe, Mickey Newbury, Loretta Lynn, Allen Shamblin, Aaron Barker, Dennis Morgan, Kim Tribble, Matt Rollings, Ron Harbin, Jim Rushing, Carl Jackson, Larry Cordle, Still Working Music Group, Senator Orrin Hatch, Music & Media, International, Albert E. Brumley & Sons, Seals & Crofts, Stamps Quartet Music, and many others.

John has overseen the design and development of a proprietary software package, called "Perfect World", used exclusively by ICG for all administration functions, including song administration, registrations, licensing, automated royalty processing, and automation of tracking and desk top audits.

John has been involved in numerous legal actions on behalf of songs in the catalogs ICG represents, including unauthorized uses of "I'll Fly Away", "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer", and "Summer Breeze". John has a passion for the understanding and interpretation of copyright law and how the laws affect and protect certain copyrights, especially those related to renewals and terminations.

Before co-founding ICG, John was General Manager of Publishing and Copyrights for The Benson Company (1985-1989). Prior to that, he worked as an A&R Director for Word Records (1983-1985) and a Tune-Plugger for publishing companies based in Nashville.

He is a member of CMA (Country Music Association), NARAS (National Association of Recording Arts and Sciences), Copyright Society of the South, Copyright Society of the U.S.A. Association of Independent Music Publishers (NY and LA), and GMA (Gospel Music Association), and regularly attends the MIDEM conference in France, as well as the annual Future Of Music Coalition conference in Washington, D.C. John enjoys spending time with his family (wife Trudy, and daughters Chelsea and Hannah), running, bicycle riding, golf and reading.
