Kevin Fleming

Kevin Fleming's entertainment business experience is vast and varied. It includes radio, records, management, publishing and publishing. In radio, Kevin's experience includes operation management, program management, air personality and consultant. In the recording industry, his expertise encompasses promotions, artist & repertoire, as well as positions including vice president and general manager. Additionally, he has managed operations, signed and developed talent, and created marketing and promotion campaigns. His most recent endeavor is entrepreneurial. Kevin Fleming is the publisher of The Urban Buzz, urban radio and music's premiere information newsletter.

A native of Minneapolis, Fleming knew he wanted to be in entertainment since high school. He attended Clark College in Atlanta, Georgia obtaining a degree in Broadcast Management and Communications. Radio career highlights include programming and personality stops at WAOK and WIGO in Atlanta, WWDM-Sumter, South Carolina. Fleming's first major market programming job came as Program Director of KGFJ-Los Angeles.

Fleming joined the record side of the business as Regional Promotion Representative for Island Records where he was rapidly promoted to Vice President of Black Music. After a brief stint at Third Stone Records, Kevin was selected as Vice President and General Manager of Perspective Records under the ownership of super producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.

During the early 1990's, Fleming returned to radio, as Operations Manager and Program Director of KACE/KRTO in Los Angeles. He also started consulting radio stations in programming and overall operations, currently, Kevin lectures and shares his knowledge of radio programming and the music industry at countless conventions, seminars and as an expert panelist. He has been a judge on Star Search, appeared on Good Morning America, The Jesse Jackson Show, and has been quoted in numerous newspaper and magazine articles including the Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, and The Minneapolis Star and Tribune. In 2000, he joined Gavin Magazine, as it's urban editor, expanding the magazine's coverage of urban radio and music while maintaining his radio consulting business.

Today, Kevin Fleming has built The Urban Buzz, Radio & Music's Fly on the Wall, into a major industry trade newsletter, tip sheet and website destination.
