Len Lytwyn

• Within a year of graduating Secondary School (summer of 1962) ‚ started a professional career as a freelance musician (drummer).

• For approximately twenty years thereafter my major source of income/livelihood was as an instrumental musician ‚ performing with numerous bands/styles of music, i.e. jazz, middle of the road popular music, calypso, big band, rock band, wedding/function band, etc., etc.

• Mid 60's through early 70's, performed with a well established rock trio ‚ released a number of records - two or three were #1 on Canada's RPM charts, etc.

• Late 60's, because of the stature of this band I was approached to represent this sector of freelance musicians as member of the Board of Directors for Toronto Musician Association (AFM Local 149)Öelected 1969.

• Served in numerous capacities with Local 149 over the next fourteen years including, Executive Board Member, full time staff position, titled officer positions and as President/CEO for the years 1983 & 1984.

• Start of 1985 left the music business to pursue other interests (i.e. construction & real estate investments) for approximately ten years. At this time I found myself again drawn to the music biz and upon certain individuals hearing of my interestÖI was offered a full-time position with AFM's Canadian Office as Administrative Assistant to AFM's Vice President from Canada which was commenced early 1995.

• With a change in the position for the office of AFM's Vice President from Canada to Mr. David J. Jandrisch, in 1997, and a reorganization our Canadian Office staff, I was assigned additional responsibilities and appointed DIRECTOR, Policies and Procedures, AFM Canada.

• In the summer of 2003, Mr. Bobby Herriot was elected as the Vice President from Canada and in early 2004; I was reassigned to a newly created position as Executive Director for Canada, AFM. In this capacity, I am responsible to oversee the daily administrative activities of the Canadian Office, to implement initiatives and polices of the Vice president from Canada and to represent and/or act on his behalf when he is unable to do so, or to act on behalf of AFM Canada as may be appropriate in any given circumstance.
