Michael Sharp
Michael Sharp is the founder and former CEO of AMP3.com. AMP3.com
was the first "sponsored-content" music website that developed a business
model based on proprietary audio-video tag software (patent-pending).
AMP3.com delivered over three million audio e-commerce sponsored ads,
which paid artists a royalty for each download, and created revenue
by attaching permanent audio advertisements to downloadable MP3 files.
Under Michael's inspired direction, consumers who visited AMP3.com
downloaded millions of mp3 music files. He took AMP3.com to Woodstock
'99 and created the Emerging Artist Stage where thousands of music
fans watched over 30 AMP3.com artists via a worldwide webcast.
In 2002, Michael co-founded Quiver Records Inc., the parent company
for -Primetones.com. Primetones is a mobile 'one-stop' shop for all
things mobile and wireless. The site is unique in that it allows artists
and programmers the world over to create their own original content
for retail distribution to wireless customers. Primetones also allows
other major content contributors (record labels, karaoke companies,
large independent music catalogs, etc.) to distribute their content
using the primetones distribution components.
In 2004 Michael founded SLS Technology Inc. He is the inventor of
the company's flagship software application, 'Snipnsend' (patent-pending).
Snipnsend is a downloadable browser plug-in that allows the user to
"snip" ring tones from their personal CD libraries and send them to
their mobile device for use as ringtones.
Michael spent many years as a successful professional musician, songwriter and record producer. His experience as a musician has given him a clear understanding of the process an artist undergoes in creating his original material. That understanding has led Michael to create a vision of the type of distribution channel that is most conducive to helping artists more efficiently and easily bring their work to a mass Internet audience hungry for new musical experiences.
Michael has been a featured speaker at numerous industry-related conferences and MP3-related panels.
