CANADIAN Radio Music awards

Canada's hottest music stars were honoured at the 2006 Canadian Radio Music Awards (CRMA). It's year nine for the CRMAs, and our attention-getting little afternoon event has made quite a name for itself - introducing rookies like Avril Lavigne, Nelly Furtado, Remy Shand, Nickelback and Sum 41, and boasting such hosts as Leslie Nielsen, Jann Arden, Kim Stockwood, and Carla Collins.

Presented by the Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB), the 9th Annual Canadian Radio Music Awards honour Canada's hottest rising radio music stars. The awards were handed out at a gala luncheon on Saturday, March 4, 2006, 12:30 p.m. at the Fairmont Royal York Toronto, as part of Canadian Music Week celebrations.

Blue Rodeo, one of Canada's best-loved and most recognizable country-rock bands, will be inducted into the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame with a special presentation at the 9th Annual Canadian Radio Music Awards on Saturday, March 4th. Earlier this year the band celebrated the twentieth anniversary of their first gig by gathering together the original five band members for one unforgettable night of nostalgia. Over the course of their career, the band has released ten studio albums and a retrospective DVD, sold millions of records, won countless awards and traveled the world time and time again. These efforts have earned founding members Jim Cuddy and Greg Keelor the reputation as two of Canada's greatest songwriters.

This year's Canadian Radio Music Awards gala luncheon is hosted by radio personality Carla Collins and includes live performances by Amanda Stott, Massari, Matt Mays, Divine Brown, Amanda Wilkinson, and Mobile, as well as a special performance by Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame inductees, Blue Rodeo.
