FOCUS ON FRANCE

France @ Canadian Music Week 2011 : A special focus on the upcoming trends of the French Music Industry.

With French as one of Canada’s two official languages, France has always been a natural trading partner for Canada. With most of the trade exchange with France originating from Quebec, Canadian Music Week’s looks forward to carving new inroads for Canadian and Ontario companies to pursue new opportunities to do business with the music companies in France and its territories.

France is the fifth largest market in the world and the third in Europe behind Britain and Germany. On the occasion of  Canadian Music Week, The French Trade Commission in Canada in association with the French Music Export Office and the Consulate General of France, is organizing a trade delegation with ten French music companies (labels, booking agencies etc…) looking forward to do business in Canada. Canadian Music Week will provide an opportunity to the companies from both sides of the Atlantic to carve new avenues in the music industry while pursuing joint business ventures.

A special music showcase with a “Focus on France” will be held Thursday 10th of March at the Rivoli and will highlight the new musical trends in France through the performance of several French bands. For more details about the bands, please visit http://canadianmusicfest.com/tickets/ (Thursday March 10 @ The Rivoli).

Focus on France: Panel

Thursday March 10, 2011   |   1:15 pm – 2:15 pm   |   Salon B
Justin Bieber, K’naan, Justin Nozuka… Canadian artists all, who’ve recently clambered up the French music charts. What makes their success more striking is that they’re Anglophones who’ve crashed a linguistic barrier. French music fans have long been a welcoming audience for Quebecois artists. Now Canadian Music Week looks forward to carving new inroads for Anglophones with music companies in France and its territories. With 65 million people, France is the third most populous country in Europe. We’ve got the contacts – including labels, distributors, promoters, agents and publishers – to help you break into the French market.
