FIFTH ANNUAL CANADIAN INDEPENDENT MUSIC AWARDS HONOUR INDEPENDENT
RECORDING ARTISTS
Toronto, Ontario (January 31, 2005) - Independent
recording artists will be honoured at the Canadian Independent Music
Awards ("The Indies") at the Phoenix Concert Theatre on Wednesday,
March 2, 2005 at 9PM. "The Indies" will serve as the official CMW
2005 Opening Night party, kicking off the festivities for the CMW
Music Festival, running from March 2 - 5, 2005.
Presented by SympaticoMSN and eye Weekly and sponsored by Max Trax,
FACTOR, The SOCAN Foundation and Galaxie, The Indies are now an integral
part of Canadian Music Week.
Nominees are chosen by committees of industry professionals from all areas
of the music scene and the winners are decided by fans voting online.
This year's awards ceremony will also include the presentation of the
Galaxie Rising Stars Award of the CBC, which helps new artists make a name
for themselves in the Canadian music industry.
Online voting at www.cmw.net begins at 9:00AM ET on
Tuesday, February 1 and closes at 12 Midnight on Tuesday, February 15,
2005.
