Canada's hottest music stars will be honoured at the 2006 Canadian Radio Music Awards (CRMA). It's year nine for the CRMAs, and our attention-getting little afternoon event has made quite a name for itself - introducing rookies like Avril Lavigne, Nelly Furtado, Remy Shand, Nickelback and Sum 41, and boasting such hosts as Leslie Nielsen, Jann Arden, Kim Stockwood, and Carla Collins.

Presented by the Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB), the 9th Annual Canadian Radio Music Awards honour Canada's hottest rising radio music stars. The awards will be handed out at a gala luncheon on Saturday, March 4, 2006, 12:30 p.m. at the Fairmont Royal York Toronto, as part of Canadian Music Week celebrations.

Our 2005 Awards' presentation was hosted by comedienne Carla Collins and included live performances by George Canyon, Matt Dusk, Simon Wilcox, The Trews, Gary Beals and The Waking Eyes, as well as a special tribute to Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame Inductee, Gordon Lightfoot, featuring Canadian Idol Kalan Porter.

An inspiration to many, Lightfoot's legacy in the music industry continues with a concert tour planned for the spring of 2005 and the release of his 20th album, Harmony, earlier this year. In addition to his five Grammy nominations and 17 Juno Awards, Lightfoot has been honoured with the "companion" of the Order of Canada (highest level) and was presented the Governor General's Award for international efforts in spreading Canadian culture. He was also honoured as a charter member of Canada's Walk of Fame.
